Side Effects Movie Review

Ya know, I’ve seen a lot of movies in my life. And unfortunately, it has gotten to a point where I can guess the ending of most movies within the first 10 minutes. This was not one of those movies. What begins as a story of reunited love when Rooney Mara’s husband (played by Channing Tatum) is released from prison, but quickly takes a dramatic turn as Mara begins taking experimental anti-depressants to cheer her up. These drugs have some seemingly unusual side effects, hence the title, I really can’t say anymore without ruining it but… wow I audibly gasped in the theatre about 8 times during this film. By far my favourite film of 2013 so far, it opens wide across Canada today and I highly recommend checking it out.
