Chris Howson's Attempt at a Wakeup Call

Posted on Tue February 12, 2013 at 9:47 AM (Tue February 12, 2013 at 9:47 AM)

Dear British Television, Please Frig Off!

6 episodes a season? How is that supposed to satiate your fans? That may be all well and good on Auntie Beeb (BBC) where all of the shows only last 6 episodes, but here in North America the shortest seasons we’re used to are Showtime and HBO shows, and they’re at least double that AND they are usually an hour long each. And don’t get me started on sitcoms, we usually get between 20 and 23 episodes a season, you can waste an entire weekend on that! But you are literally only giving us 3 hours of Television a year. And what is with your extended hiatuses? You’d think since you are only writing 6 episodes a series you wouldn’t have to take 3 years off in between. British Television, we love you so much! But you have to meet us, and our instant gratification, halfway. Pull it together! This is your wakeup call.
